The Sanctuary of Fátima is one of the greatest references of the Marian cult, which welcomes millions of pilgrims from all over the world. From the Precinct of Prayers, you can see the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary of Fátima with its high tower, the Monument to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and, on one side, the Chapel of Apparitions, precisely where Our Lady asked the little shepherds to build a chapel. At the opposite end, there is the Church of the Holy Trinity – Lesser Basilica, modern architectural work, and on the outside, the High Cross in bronze.
About 2 km (1.25 miles), in a small village in Aljustrel, is the house where the little shepherds lived.

After this visit, you will head to Coimbra – the city of students. With a vast history linked to the formation of Portugal, this is where the oldest Portuguese University is located and one of the oldest in the world, founded in 1290. The University of Coimbra – Alta e Sofia, was recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2013, which positions the city as one of the top tourist and cultural destinations in the region and the country.

The itinerary is completed in the historic center, where we suggest a visit to the University Library, the Cathedral and the Church of Stª Cruz.
